Biography

Meng-Jung Wen, BPharm, MS, PhD, is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Texas A&M University Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy. A pharmacist and health services researcher, Dr. Wen studies how patients' perspectives, health beliefs, social relationships, and healthcare contexts shape medication use and chronic disease management, particularly in cancer and diabetes care.

Dr. Wen's research applies implementation science, mixed methods, and social network analysis to translate patients' experiences, needs, and preferences into tailored interventions that improve medication-related and patient-centered outcomes. Her work also incorporates community-engaged research and participatory co-design to develop patient-centered interventions that are relevant, feasible and sustainable in real-world healthcare settings.

Before joining Texas A&M, Dr. Wen completed postdoctoral training at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Her postdoctoral work examined social network interventions for older adults with advanced cancer, participatory planning and co-design of complex interventions, implementation within learning health systems (LHS), and stakeholder engagement in AI-assisted clinical decision support. She received her PhD in Health Services Research in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where her dissertation used an explanatory sequential mixed methods design to develop health-belief personas among cancer survivors taking oral anticancer medications.

Beyond research and teaching, Dr. Wen enjoys traveling, exploring different cuisines, gardening, playing badminton, and watercolor painting.
